Profiles

Overview

Duplication profiles in Duplicate Post RB allow you to save and reuse different duplication configurations.

Each profile defines its own set of options, such as which elements are copied, naming rules, and hierarchy behavior. Profiles make it easy to adapt duplication behavior to different workflows without constantly changing settings.

What is a duplication profile?

A duplication profile is a named set of duplication settings.

Each profile:

  • has its own configuration
  • can be selected before duplicating content
  • can be reused across posts, pages, and custom post types

This allows you to create separate profiles for blogs, landing pages, templates, or custom post types.

Default profile

Duplicate Post RB includes a built-in Default profile.

  • The Default profile cannot be deleted
  • It can be renamed if needed
  • It serves as a fallback when no other profile is selected

The Default profile ensures that duplication is always available, even if no custom profiles are created.

Creating a new profile

You can create a new duplication profile in several ways:

From the profiles dropdown

  1. Open Settings profiles
  2. Click Add Profile
  3. Enter a profile name
  4. Click Create Profile

From the settings menu

Profiles can also be added using the additional menu in the plugin interface.

Both methods open the same profile creation dialog.

Editing a profile name

Each profile can be renamed at any time.

To edit a profile name:

  1. Select the profile
  2. Click the Edit icon next to the profile title
  3. Enter a new name
  4. Click Save

The Default profile can also be renamed, but it cannot be deleted.

Deleting profiles

  • Any custom profile created by the user can be deleted
  • The Default profile cannot be deleted

To delete a profile:

  1. Select the profile
  2. Click the Delete icon
  3. Confirm the action

This helps prevent accidental removal of the base duplication configuration.

Profile-specific configuration

Each duplication profile has its own independent configuration, including:

  • Elements to copy
  • Naming rules
  • Hierarchy options
  • Other duplication-related settings

Changes made in one profile do not affect other profiles.

This allows you to fine-tune duplication behavior for different use cases.

Selecting a profile when duplicating content

You can choose which profile to use at the moment of duplication.

From the post or page list

When duplicating content from the WordPress post or page list, a profile selector is available in the copy dialog.

From the Gutenberg editor

When using the duplicate action inside the Gutenberg editor, the same profile selection popup is displayed.

This ensures consistent behavior regardless of where duplication is triggered.

Mobile-friendly interface

The profiles interface is fully responsive and optimized for:

  • desktop computers
  • tablets
  • mobile devices

Profile creation, selection, and editing work seamlessly across different screen sizes, making it easy to manage duplication settings on any device.

Best practices

  • Use separate profiles instead of frequently changing options
  • Create profiles for specific workflows, such as:
    • blog posts
    • landing pages
    • content templates
    • custom post types
  • Keep the Default profile as a safe fallback
  • Use clear and descriptive profile names

This approach keeps duplication predictable and reduces manual cleanup after copying content.
